Through the Night's scarlet heat I sit here
in reverie fashion, my nose perceives the subtle
scent of Autumn's ore sweeten the bare breeze
and I wonder what it would be like to be a
Millennium, to be the soul of Infinity, older
than the oldest extreme where each mortal life
was just a cookie bite, a dimple, a flickering
candle, a single book in Time's limitless library,
what would it be like to witness their gregarious
growth, to grieve for the mangling waste that
they in fiendish fashion caused, to rejoice for
the compassion and the once estranged empathy
they learned to share, to see them grope for
understanding and then see its dawning illume
their insatiable souls, like a book that never
closes so is the learning each generation births
in the next, it's an inheritance beyond estimate.

What would it be like to be a Millennium and
see Nature's Beauty become a deity, though
assaulted a thousand times and another thousand
more-she survived Man's march, ever silent
and solid and sovereign the years passed by,
being old is not an oddity to Time-that state
is left to Death, what would it be like to
be a Millennium and witness Ignorance's slow
decay into Wisdom's heritage, to behold the
passing of Passions into a necessary pursuit
and Identity have a lease to be what it will.
But this Millennium's secrets are safely locked
within her like the seeds in the chambers of
a pomegranate, we are only left to wonder and
imagine what this ancient globe will never tell,
for Fame is not the oar that steers her Ocean,
she is a dainty bud when it comes to publicity.

I thought this would be a good poem to end the year on.

Thank-you. I hope you had an enjoyable New Years' Eve. I stayed home and watched a Star Trek movie, had pizza, and Bailey's with chocolate milk. And I kissed the geckos under the mistletoe. I also howled at the Moon from my balcony.

Actually, I really did have a nice one this year. :D New Years is usually something kind of depressing for me. But this time some good things happened and made it better.

That is awesome. :D Sounds like you had an awesome night. I was, for the first time in a long time of being alone, surrounded by people that I actually love. It was a nice feeling.

It is indeed a good poem to end the year on. Your reflections are beautiful, and work well as a last goodbye to the year.

I loved this part:

"though
assaulted a thousand times and another thousand
more-she survived Man's march"
